Dr. Cappel attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison where he graduated with a degree in biomedical engineering. He then attended Pennsylvania State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania, where he ultimately developed an interest in dermatology.
Dr. Cappel completed his internship in internal medicine and his dermatology residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. During dermatology residency, he received the Mayo International Health Program Scholarship and spent one month working in dermatology in São Paulo, Brazil. Additionally, he was involved in multiple research projects regarding a number of different dermatologic conditions and as a result he has attended and presented research at numerous dermatology meetings.
Dr. Cappel completed a Mohs Micrographic Surgery & Dermatologic Oncology fellowship with Surgical Dermatology Group. He has received advanced training in the management of skin cancer with the Mohs micrographic surgery technique. He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and the American College of Mohs Surgery. In his free time, Dr. Cappel enjoys travelling, being physically active, and watching sports with friends. He is now accepting new patients in general, surgical and cosmetic dermatology.
