About
Dr. Chris Harmon has been performing Mohs surgery and practicing aesthetic dermatology in Alabama since 1997.
His research interests include wound healing, skin cancer, cutaneous laser surgery, and dermabrasion. Dr. Harmon co-authored a textbook, “Mohs Micrographic Surgery: From Layers to Reconstruction.” He has also written numerous chapters in other surgical texts, as well as peer-reviewed scientific papers on Mohs surgery, reconstructive techniques, dermabrasion, and laser skin resurfacing.
He is the director of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) fellowship in Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology and has trained more than 24 surgical fellows who now practice Mohs surgery in academic and private practice settings across the country. In addition, he has been a member and served on the boards of several dermatologic associations listed below.
In 1995, he received the Young Investigator Award as presented by the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery for his work with the ultrastructural and immunohistochemical changes following dermabrasion of facial scars.
In 2007, he was recognized for excellence in volunteerism by the American Academy of Dermatology for his medical mission work and church planting activities around the world.
For more than 10 years, he has served on the board of e3 Partners Ministries, a medical church planting ministry based out of Plano, Texas. Dr. Harmon is also currently chairman of the board for New Water Farms Ministries located in Dadeville, Alabama, on Lake Martin.
